Dumpster rental planning

Dumpster Rental FAQs: Sizes, Prices, Materials & Placement

Use these answers to prepare a clear quote request and avoid common loading, access, and material mistakes. The exact address, debris, placement, timing, and written terms still need confirmation.

Choose by material, weight, and volume

Dumpster size names describe container volume, but volume alone does not tell you which size to rent. Dense material can reach a weight limit long before a container looks full.

  • •15 yard: focused cleanouts, smaller room work, and lighter debris.
  • •20 yard: larger cleanouts, remodeling, roofing, and active construction phases.
  • •30 yard: whole-home work, estate clearing, large renovations, and bulky debris.
  • •40 yard: the highest volumes of lighter construction, demolition, cleanout, or turnover debris.
  • •10 yard lowboy: approved clean heavy material kept separate.

Read the full terms, not just the headline price

Compare starting price, included weight, rental window, overage, material rules, placement conditions, and any terms left open for the quote. A separate 3% processing fee applies to all card payments. A lower starting price can be the wrong comparison if the included allowance does not fit the load.

Prepare the placement and pickup route

Measure the container area and approach, check gate width and overhead clearance, move vehicles and materials, protect access during the project, and keep debris below the fill line.

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers

What dumpster sizes are listed?

Haul’n Off lists 15-, 20-, 30-, and 40-yard general-debris dumpsters plus a 10-yard lowboy for approved clean heavy material.

What are the starting prices?

Prices start at 15-yard $560, 20-yard $675, 30-yard $900, 40-yard $975, and $771 for the 10-yard lowboy. A separate 3% processing fee applies to all card payments. A written quote confirms the dumpster, address, and terms for your job.

How much weight is included?

The 15-yard lists 1 included ton, the 20-yard lists 2 included tons, and the 30- and 40-yard sizes each list 3 included tons. No included-ton allowance is published for the lowboy.

What is the general-debris overage rate?

General-debris overage is $165 per ton above the included allowance. No lowboy overage amount is listed.

How long is the listed rental window?

The 15- and 20-yard sizes list 1 day, the 30- and 40-yard sizes list 7 days, and the 10-yard lowboy lists 5 days. Confirm current extension terms before keeping a container longer.

Can dirt or concrete go in a regular dumpster?

No. Approved clean dirt, concrete, asphalt, brick, block, stone, pavers, or tile must stay separate and use the 10-yard lowboy.

What cannot go in a dumpster?

Do not load hazardous waste, paint or liquids, batteries, propane tanks, tires, e-waste, medical waste, or asbestos. Appliances require approval before loading and cost $75 per appliance.

Do I need a permit?

Public-street or right-of-way placement can require local approval. Private property can also have HOA, property-manager, or site rules. The customer should confirm applicable requirements before delivery.

How full can I load the container?

Keep material contained and below the fill line, distribute weight, do not leave debris hanging over the sides, and do not mix clean heavy material with general debris.
